A delightful barn conversion next to Casa Marrucina, Il Fienile is ideal for a family or a small group of friends as well as couple on their own wishing to discover this wild and untouched land.
Il Fienile, adjacent to Casa Marrucina, has been renovated and furnished to the same high standard and can be rented either on its own or together with Casa Marrucina. A splendid large barn, Il Fienile (meaning hay barn) comprises a massive double height sitting room with exposed stone walls, imposing timber beams, large log burning stove, hand-sprung sofas, and fully fitted kitchen and dining area. There is a galleried library on the mezzanine floor leading to a truly romantic bedroom under the eaves. This has its own small French stove, fabulous tin and copper ‘bateau’ bath, Victorian wash-stand, carved French bed, and a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ balcony looking out over the olive groves.
There are a further two double bedrooms on the ground floor, both furnished most comfortably, with a large well-fitted bathroom, plus utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer.
Outside is the large swimming pool with pergola and barbecue for al fresco dining and the surrounding views are magnificent. To the south are the mountains of Roccaraso and to the north are the gorgeously attractive olive groves. The Maiella mountain provides a dramatic panorama to the west, and to the east is the Adriatic Sea. The garden has been planted with palms and oleanders, as well as a wealth of fruit trees, rosemary, lavender, cypresses and pines.
There is lots to explore in Abruzzo be it walking in the mountains of the stunning and magnificent National Parks, relaxing on the beaches just forty minutes away on the Adriatic, or discovering the really untouched medieval villages where one can find some of the very best cuisine in Italy! This is the land of the very best pasta (De Cecco is produced just over the hills from Casa Marrucina) and some superb wines including the well renowned Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and there are restaurants galore which are sophisticated and inexpensive.
…And if you are really lucky you may see a wolf or a bear amidst this wild and beautiful land!
Whether taken on its own or with Casa Marrucina next door, Il Fienile is an exceptional find and somewhere to return to at any time of the year.
