Bimbi Bellhouse and Spencer Power have for many years been successful interior designers in London’s Notting Hill. They also own a large farmhouse and olive groves in Abruzzo. Splitting their time between London and Italy, they run the olive groves (over 1000 trees), undertake targeted high end restoration projects locally for both English and Italian clients, and welcome their guests to their extremely comfortable house and barn with large swimming pool throughout the year. The house, which they completely renovated and rebuilt in 2005, is ideally situated for hiking in the National Park of the Maiella (only 5 minutes away), sunbathing and seaside swimming in the summer (the Adriatic coast is only half an hour away) and skiing in the winter.
They can not only recommend all manner of activities and cultural excursions, having an ‘in-depth’ knowledge of the area, but can also organise Italian language courses (utilising their close connections to the internationally acclaimed ‘Athena’ school in nearby Lanciano). Spencer is building a large artist’s studio in 2010 from which he will run Art Workshops with the help of visiting lecturers. They will also be repeating their very successful art show 'Artisti Inglesi - Paesaggi d'Abruzzo' which they curated in the ducal palace in Casoli in August 2009. This year's show has its Opening Night on August 7th and runs for a week after that. Some of the artists who exhibited last year are back with new work, and there are also newcomers, notably Mick Rooney R.A. (who lived for many years in Abruzzo) and Peter Webb, famous for his collaboration with the Rolling Stones and Sir Paul MacCartney. In this instance he is showing landscape paintings of Pescocostanzo and the Maiella hinterland.
Bimbi speaks fluent Italian and is more than happy to sort out any specific requests that their guests might have in mind. She has sourced many ‘artegianale’ producers of local food products of the highest quality, as well as textile and porcelain manufacturers, all traditional to the region.
Their olive oil, which is of the highest quality( being hand-picked, cold-pressed, extra- virgin, and single- estate) is in great demand in London. The bulk of it is sold to two Italian restaurants ‘Osteria Basilico’ and ‘Mediterraneo’ in Kensington Park Road (Bimbi and Spencer’s close neighbours). It is available for sale in London in handy three-litre tins at £12.00 per litre (£36.00 per tin). To order, ring Bimbi on 07901 924568 or email your order to bimbi@bellhouseco.com
Lastly, they offer a high-end 'tailor made' property finding service (again in Abruzzo) to their clients. With their many years experience in the refurbishment market they can put together a project from start to finish.
